Sue Bray is Assistant Dean for Strategy and Development, Professional and Distance Education, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy NY. In addition, she is Executive Director of "New Vistas....support for distance learning" a consulting practice founded to assist universities, corporations and government agencies in the implementation of distance learning programs. Sue served as founding Director of the Rensselaer Satellite Video Program (RSVP), the distance-learning program of Rensselaer and led it from its inception in 1987 until her departure in January 1997 to found New Vistas.
Melvyn Dodridge is a University Principal Tutor in the School of Computing and
Technology, University of Derby, United Kingdom. Until last year he was the
Programmes Manager in the former Division of Electronic Systems leading the
development of new programmes, the first to be accredited in the UK at
Incorporated Engineer under the new Engineering Council (EC) regulations.
Outside the university he is a member of the Institution of Incorporated
Engineers (IIE) Academic Accreditation Committee and a participant in the
Socrates thematic project E4 - Enhancing Engineering Education in Europe. He
has in excess of 25 publications on the theme of international engineering
education and is a member of the International Steering Committee of the
International Conference on Engineering Education (ICEE).
Michael H.W. Hoffmann
obtained the Diplom-degree (comparable to an M.Sc. degree) in physics in 1975 and his Ph.D. in RF & Microwave
Engineering in 1980, both at Saarland University, Germany, where he worked as a
research assistant until 1983. He
joined ANT Nachrichtentechnik GmbH (today Marconi Communications GmbH) as a
systems engineer and researcher from 1983 until 1988. From 1989 until 1991 he was a professor at the University of
Applied Sciences of the German Telecom in Berlin. Since 1991 he has been professor and vice-head in the Department
of Microwave Techniques at the University of Ulm, Germany. He was awarded the Prize of the State of
Baden-Württemberg for excellence in higher education in 2000. He was a STINT Visiting Professor and
researcher at the Ĺngström Institute of the University of Uppsala, Sweden in
2001. His current research interests
include electronic noise and RF&Microwave Communication Systems. He is a council member of the European
Association for Education in Electrical and Information Engineering and is a
member of IEEE, ITG, VDE, and the International Steering Committee of the
International Conference on Engineering Education (ICEE).
Vojislav Ilic completed his tertiary studies in Australia culminating in a PhD from the University of Sydney in Rheology of Suspensions in 1994. He has had extensive industrial experience as a Research Engineer in multiphase thermofluid problems associated with nuclear, petroleum and solar engineering while with the Australian Atomic Energy Commission, Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation, Dartmouth College and the University of California, Santa Barbara. He is now a Senior Lecturer in Mechatronic Engineering. His current research interests include engineering education, biomedical engineering, polymer processing and cooling of packaged systems.
Kwang Sun Kim completed his Master and PhD studies in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Kansas in 1983 and 1986.From 1986 to 1988, he was a Nuclear Steam Supply System Analysis engineer at Gibbs & Hill, Inc., NY, U.S.A. During 1988-1989 he was a faculty research associate at the High Temperature Chemical Reaction Laboratory, Yale University, Connecticut, U.S.A. From 1989 to 1992 he was a general manager for precision instruments at Samsung Aerospace Inc., Seoul, Korea. Since 1992, he has been a professor of mechanical engineering at Korea University of Technology and Education (KUT). He served as dean of planning affairs from 1996 to 2000 and dean of graduate studies from 2000 to 2002 at KUT. He is currently Director of the Semiconductor Equipment Technology Education Center and Vice Chairman of Korean Association of Semiconductor Equipment Technology. His research interests are in Engineering Education, Heat Transfer, Thermal Flow System, Optimization, Semiconductor Equipment, and Micro Thermal Control. He has published more than 50 articles in archival journals.
Luis Manuel Sánchez Ruiz has been affiliated with
Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (UPV), Spain since 1980 and has been
Professor of Mathematics since 2000. He
graduated and received his Ph.D. from Universidad de Valencia in 1980 and 1988,
respectively, and was a Visiting Professor at the University of Florida, Gainesville, FL, USA on
several occassions during 1992-99. His
current research interests include functional analysis from both theoretical
and applied points of view. He has
published over 80 papers in scientific journals and conference proceedings and
more than 10 textbooks on mathematics for engineers, and is co-author of the
research monograph Metrizable Barrelled
Spaces published by Longman. The
former Academic Co-ordinator of Mediterranean University of Science and
Technology, he is responsible for several research projects granted by the
Spanish Ministry of Education. He is currently a reviewer for
several international journals, publishing companies and research projects, as
well as a member of the Editorial Board of Scientiae Mathematicae Japonicae,
and of the on-line Scientiae Mathematicae.
He is member of the International Steering Committee of International
Conference on Engineering Education and is General Chair of ICEE-2003:
Valencia.
WOJCIECH ZIELINSKI
Wojciech Zielinski became Rector of Silesian University of Technology (SUT) in 2002. Prior to that, he was Vice Rector for Education. He obtained both the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees at SUT. He was Head of the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Technology of SUT during 1991–1997. He is a member of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Organic Industry in Warsaw, the Council of International University in Zittau, Germany; Polish Committee of Standards, and Polish Academy of Sciences. His research interests concern synthesis of organic compounds. He received Achievement Awards from the Ministry of Education in 1976, 1978, 1984 and 1987.
