iNEER
AWARDS: PROCESS, CRITERIA, AND FORMAT
Introduction
The iNEER
Board presents a number of awards each year to recognize highly qualified
individuals and educational partnerships for their contributions to advancing
international understanding and cooperation in engineering education and
research. Awards are based on nominations by members of iNEER
and are reviewed by an international committee appointed by the Board. Awards, in the form of engraved plaques, are
presented at a scheduled iNEER event. Award
recipients must be present in person to receive the awards.
Award Categories
There are three categories of
awards: (1) Leadership Award; (2) Achievement Award; and (3) Recognition Award.
In any particular year iNEER may give more than one
award in each category, or no award.
Broadly
defined criteria and guidelines for selection of each award are given below.
Leadership Award
This is the highest level of award
given by iNEER.
This award is presented to an individual or educational partnership for
visionary leadership, for significant innovations, and for producing broad,
long-lasting, positive impacts on international engineering education and
research. The ideas and/or work for
which such a leader is recognized with this award will be of an over-arching
nature with global impact.
Achievement
Award
The second highest honor given by iNEER, this award is given to an individual or educational
partnership for innovations and exemplary, sustained, superior accomplishments
in promoting international cooperation in engineering education that benefit a
number of institutions in several regions of the world.
Recognition
Award
This award recognizes an individual
or educational partnership for innovations and sustained, dedicated, and
exemplary contributions to international cooperation in engineering education
and research that have led to close interaction between institutions in two or
more nations.
Nomination Process
Nominations may be submitted upon
solicitation by the iNEER Secretariat. Any member of
the iNEER community is eligible to nominate another
member for any category of award. All nominations must be submitted to the iNEER Secretary-General by the due date specified in the
solicitation.
Nominees must
be individuals or educational partnerships whose tangible innovative
contributions (as opposed to simply being someone in a position involved with
international cooperation, as an example) in international cooperation are
instrumental in creating new bridges between and among nations where none
existed before.
Nominations
are evaluated by the Awards Committee comprised of international experts in
engineering education. Awards recommendations are forwarded to the iNEER Board which makes the final decision.
To receive an
award, the awardee must be present (as a regular
attendee that pays all fees) at the iNEER event where
the award will be presented.
All nominations must be submitted
using MS Word format by e-mail (please specify “NOMINATION” as the subject) to:
