"Please join your colleagues from the worldwide community in engineering education and research at ICEE-2007 to be held in Coimbra, Portugal from September 3-7, 2007.

We are planning a broad range of sessions and workshops that cover current and emerging topics of interest to the international community.  These are aimed at fostering future progress in engineering education and research through international cooperation.

The conference will be organized by the University of Coimbra, one of the oldest universities in Europe.  The monumental buildings on campus and nearby, and their history, attract tourists from around the world.  The University is one of Portugal's most important institutions of higher learning, with advance degree programs in the natural sciences, engineering, medicine, law, mathematics, architecture, education, sports, psychology, social sciences and humanities. It co-founded the Coimbra Group, a consortium of leading European research universities.

Connected to Lisbon by a short and comfortable train ride, the city of Coimbra is one of the most important urban centers in Portugal and was its capital from 1139 to about 1260.  It has a large archeological site marking an ancient Roman town.  Because of the University, Coimbra has developed into an important cultural center.

ICEE-2007 will be jointly hosted by Prof. Fernando Seabra Santos, Rector of the U. of Coimbra, and Prof. João Gabriel Silva, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology, and co-chaired by Prof. Carlos Furtado and Prof. Maria da Graça Rasteiro, both of whom are long-time members of the iNEER network.

With members spread across 98 countries, iNEER is a volunteer, networking professional organization formed by the international engineering community to promote international cooperation.

As is the practice in iNEER conferences, a copy of the soon-to-be-published iNEER Special Volume for 2007 will be included in the registration package for each participant who pays the full registration fee.

More information about iNEER may be found by visiting its website at http://www.ineer.org.
