ABSTRACT
Since the majority of the companies nowadays ask for the college graduates with information
technology, Ajou University have decided to provide all the rooming freshman with the basic
computing courses. The school of information and computer engineering firstly analyzed the level of
computing skills the companies require for the newcomers. Secondly, we also analyzed required
information technology for students to meet their own major course requirements not only for
engineering majors but also humanity majors. We asked every school for their needs and decided on
the contents of the courses which is given as follows
- how to handle PC's
- how to use word processor
- how to analyze the data
- how to present one's idea to others
- how to use internet
- how to program (for engineers and scientists)
- how to use DBMS (for humanity, business major)
I will describe following questions in detail:
- How many hours do we need to teach to cover above topics?
- Who can be suitable lecturers and tutors?
- What are the best hardware platform and software for our purpose?
- How can we provide lab faculties for over two thousands students?
