ABSTRACT
After four years' experience running the new government approved university syllabus for engineering education, the Polytechnic University of Valencia is in a position to reflect on the advantages and disadvantages its new education system. During these four years the University has given thought and reflected upon its future in the XXI Century. Prof. Justo Nieto will discuss how he sees the future of Spanish Engineering Education in terms of policy making. Issues such as how to actively involve the society that our University serves and through which it is financed in its activities, how to achieve quality control programmes, how to promote innovation schemes, how to prevent post-graduate unemployment, etc.
