Litovel

Litovel Litovel is situated in the height 223 m.o.s. and under the spurs of Drahanská vrchovina upland in the river Morava valley. Behind the Třesín foothills there is the river divided into several branches. These became a natural protection of Slavonic fishing village. In its neighbourhood the Czech king Přemysl Otakar II founded a new town in the middle of 13th century. The fishing origin of Litovel reminds also the town´s coat of arms - two silver fish in blue colour.

Litovel Brewery Litovel with its 10,000 inhabitants is the centre for the neighbouring villages, and the natural tourist attractions with its stylish restaurants and shops system. Six branches of the river Morava, flowing through the town, give Litovel a special atmosphere and nickname "Venice of Haná". In the historical shooting range there is the museum of the town now. Litovel is also well known for its pottery, the examples of which are kept by Mr. Lamr and with whom many other artists are extending.

The main traffic routes were partly deflected in order the luvial forest surrounding the town, popular destination of walks, relieved by romantic buildings of the Liechteinstein dominion round Nové Zámky (Komín obelisk, Templ over the Morava water shed) were protected. In 1990 the area was pronounced the Litovelské Pomoraví National Park. The neighbouring areas with caves in Mladeč and Javoříčko, castles Úsov, Bouzov and Šternberk are attractive for tourists and Litovel is a natural starting point for all visitors.

Transportation

Bus transportation from Olomouc (conference venue) to the Litovel Brewery is included in the excursion fee. Bus will depart from conference hotel according to the conference time schedule.
