Professor Robin King
Retired as Professor of Information Engineering and
Pro-Vice Chancellor and Vice President, Division of
Information Technology, Engineering and the Environment,

Robin King was Professor of Information Engineering and Pro-Vice Chancellor and Vice President for the University of South Australia’s Division of Information Technology, Engineering and the Environment from 1998 until his retirement in March 2007.
Robin was educated in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Sheffield University and Imperial College, London, and has worked in several areas of electronics and communications engineering, technological change and in engineering education though industry and academic positions in UK, Papua New Guinea, and Australia. He is a strong advocate for project-based learning in engineering programs, and of gender and culturally inclusive engineering curricula. He has more than 110 papers published in journals and conferences.
Robin King is a Fellow of Engineers Australia and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology, UK. He is currently chair of the Accreditation Board of Engineers Australia, and deputy chair of the Sydney Accord, the international agreement on accreditation of engineering technologists’ qualifications. He is a director of the Cooperative Research Centre for Integrated Engineering Asset Management, and of the International Centre of Excellence in Water Resources Management. Robin is currently managing a national project to address the supply and quality of Australian engineering graduates, on behalf of the Australian Council of Engineering Deans.
When not engaged in professional engineering matters, Robin is a keen mountain walker, particularly in the European Alps and the Himalaya, and an avid listener to music and opera.
