(I) From Silesian University of Technology, Katowice, Poland, September 15, 2000
Dear Dr. Win AUNG,
I enclose requested short remarks to the ICEE'2000 in Taiwan.
I would like to express the perfect organization and hospitality
during the conference.
It is nice that the letter with photos has reached the States so
quickly. I hope to meet with you in your way back from Gliwice to
Ostrava. I am in touch with Andrea.
With the best regards

REMARKS ABOUT ICEE’S CONFERENCES
- Positive areas:
- Broad subject of papers covering all areas of engineering education,
- Marvellous opportunity for strengthening of collaboration between professors and universities from different countries.
- Areas for improvement:
- If we try to think about ‘learning’ instead of ‘teaching’ it is necessary to consider students involvement
- Many countries are still not represented
- I think that ICEE could be organized annually for next few years. Now we’ve got a queue of hosts. In fact after 2006 the conference could be organized for instance in even years
- Coming back to participation of students I suggest including in-country student session to the conference program. In case of ICEE’2001 in Oslo it could be Scandinavian students session.
- There are two main obstacles in international collaboration: financial issues and language. The first one is more important.
- Supporting of the bilateral collaboration should be done as a result of multigovernment collaboration. Maybe a special funds?
- The INEER test website seemed to be very important. It should be a proper place for discussion, exchanging informations and ideas.
- I think that Curricula Development Workshop on comparative analysis of managerial contents in engineering education could be one of the workshops being organized in the middle between of two conferences.
